I have got so much on my mind lately that it is affecting my sleep. I’ve also found myself to be a bit forgetful these past few days.
Chris is registering for classes for the next academic year. Since he’s been getting excellent grades in Math (he’s currently in Algebra 1), his teacher has recommended that he take Geometry for the summer and skip onto Algebra 2 for his Sophomore year. The high school he currently attends will NOT be offering Geometry for the summer session so I’m going to have to find a nearby high school that will. Since all the schools in our district have gone to a year-round schedule, Chris is looking to cram a years worth of Geometry into about 5 weeks of summer school (4-hour classes … yuck). If Chris continues to take Math during the summer, he should reach Calculus by his Senior year and may be able to take a semester of college Calculus at the University of Hawaii’s Leeward campus (about a 10 minute drive from where we live) as well. That’s a lot of hard work, and I know he can do it.
Sianna, on the other hand, blew whatever chances she had in getting into Kamehameha. She brought home a C her first quarter. She did bring that grade up this 2nd quarter, but it might not be enough. For some reason she having issues this year. I got her seeing a counselor at her school once a week, and that seems to be helping her tremendously. Besides, I think she didn’t really wanted to go to Kamehameha. I’ve come to realize that between the two kids, I expect more from Sianna. I think that only added to her stress level. We had a long talk recently and I told her I would take it a little easier on what I expect from her … just a little.
Well, I am off to the mall … I seem to be growing out of my clothes for some reason and I need to pick up some stuff.
