Hmmm … for whatever reason blogger didn’t want to post my stuff earlier.

It’s all pretty much set. I’m talking about my hospital stay. I’ve been on this diet for my gestational diabetes for about a month now and you bet I have some cravings. If I remember correctly, I’ll be on a liquid diet for the first 30 hours after the surgery … nothing but broth, juice, milk, jello, and water. I have started a list of things I want to eat while I’m there. Loved ones have each been assigned (or will be assigned) to bring the following when they visit:

1. Pizza – I would like extra cheese on that baby.
2. Ice cream – a pint from Dave’s, banana or course, and Dreyer’s Chocolate Brownie Fudge
3. A big ole cheeseburger … even if it’s from McDonald’s … the greasier, the better.
4. A can of Coke and a can of Sprite.

That should cover me the four days I’m in the hospital. And really, I’m not asking for too much.

Actually, if I plan it carefully, I could eat all of those things now, but I wouldn’t get to fully enjoy them. The diabetes will be gone when the placenta leaves my body and I shouldn’t have to worry about what I eat or the quantity. I still need to monitor my glucose levels for two weeks after I give birth, but I have been assured that everything will be just fine.
I finally gained some weight … a whole half a pound! My goal for the next two weeks is to gain a full pound cause I have some catching up to do.

I have anywhere from 6 weeks to 7 weeks before the big day and as far as I’m concerned, they can take him out already. John, however, says not yet … he still needs to bake some more. It’s all a waiting game now and I hope it goes by faster when we finally set a date for the c-section. I can imagine, and probably did have the same feelings, all the emotions and anxieties the two of you, WryGuy and Alicia, are having. I had just turned 21 when I had Chris and I was eating up all the attention I was getting and enjoying the excitement … until the birthing stories started circulating …the horror stories about long labor, the pain, blah blah blah. I was in labor for 26 hours total with the last 4 on pitocin. I couldn’t dilate past 5 cm and ended with a c-section. The upside to all of this was that you really do forget all the pain. Nature is truly kind. I wish Alicia a speedy delivery and don’t forget the magic word … epidural.

Well, tomorrow I have an appointment with my dietician … I am now up to 2200 calories a day. If you ask me, that is way too much for me to consume … most days I can’t even come close to that. But hey, it helps me to not spill keytones and it is for the well being of my little man.

Until later …
